In the past 12 months Growthpoint Properties Limited has increased its leasing activities in the Western Cape region by 45% compared to the same period in 2006.
“Overall, the Cape Town leasing statistics for retail, office and industrial space show an increase from a deal value of R256 million in 2006 to R370m in 2007,” says Growthpoint’s Cape Town regional manager, David Stoll.
An analysis of the leasing figures for 2007 shows that office leases made up the largest slice of the leasing pie, worth R154m or 42% of leasing deals, followed closely by the retail sector at R133m, or 36%.
An additional R83m of rental income was leased in industrial premises, accounting for the remaining 22% of leases signed in the Western Cape.
