The latest industrial development by Propdev Trust, a R60 million, 30-unit industrial park, has focused on the needs of Cape Town’s northern suburb workforce by creating a 10 365m2 industrial park to service this area.
The demand for this type of development has been so high that 50% of phase one of Durbanville Business Park has been sold within days of erecting signage, says Propdev Trust MD Dick Groeneweg.
“Traffic congestion continues to worsen and residents of the northern suburbs commuting along Cape Town’s N1 to go to work now have to endure an average of 90 minutes in their cars and increasing fuel costs.
“In light of these factors, the residents from these areas eagerly look for alternative locations for their businesses.”
Durbanville Business Park is on the R302 north of the Durbanville residential area, between the N1 and N7, approximately 30km north-east of Cape Town.
This new industrial node is also close to the Durbanville CBD, which offers a wide range of retail and banking facilities.
The units range in size from 158m2 to 735m2, although spaces of up to 3 900m2 can be accommodated by combining units.
As with other Propdev Trust projects, the park offers good security, low maintenance buildings and is constructed by master builders, ensuring quality and attention to detail, says Groeneweg.
Unit specifications include high roller shutter doors, facebrick facades, aluminium window frames, suspended ceilings and power skirtings.
Construction is expected to be completed in December 2008 and units are available for sale as well as to let.
Other successful Propdev projects include the sought after Platinum Junction in Montague Gardens and F1 Park in Racing Park, which are both sold out.
“Our philosophy is to create a pleasant working environment with ample parking, extensive landscaping and natural daylight in the factory units, which is appreciated by our clientele,” says Groeneweg.
